Our approach to sustainable procurement
At Ipsen, we recognize the critical role our supply chain plays in advancing our sustainability ambition. Through responsible procurement, we aim to improve patients’ lives while supporting an ethical, inclusive and environmentally responsible supply network
Our approach is anchored in four pillars — Environment, Patients, People, and Governance — guiding us in how we partner with suppliers to build a healthier and more sustainable future.
Our key priorities
1. Decarbonization with our suppliers
Ipsen is committed to science-based targets (SBTi) aligned with the 1.5 deg C pathway of the Paris agreement. By the end of 2027, we aim for 77% of spend with our top suppliers to be with partners who have carbon targets aligned to ours. Further, we aim to reduce Scope 3.1 emissions through shared data, collaborative roadmaps and decarbonization initiatives.
2. Circularity in packaging
Implement circular packaging targets for key existing products and integrate circular principles into the design of future packaging and devices.
3. Electrification of our fleet
Our aim by 2030 is for 70% of Ipsen’s global fleet to consist of battery electric vehicles under our corporate “Fleet for Future” program.
4. Responsible travel choices
Where travel is required, we continue to implement and monitor an environmentally conscious travel policy which encourages more sustainable travel modes and frequencies, for our colleagues, using carefully selected partners who share our ambition.
5. Renewable electricity
We aim to procure and use 100% renewable electricity on applicable Ipsen sites, with the support of certified renewable energy certificates, where relevant.
6. Training, capability building & awareness
We will equip our employees with skills to systematically integrate sustainable considerations into purchasing decisions through training programs and promote regular internal & external communications.
7. Ethical and responsible business partners
Aim for 100% of our top suppliers to have a Code of Conduct which aligns with Ipsen’s standards, or that suppliers adhere to Ipsen’s Business Partner Code of Conduct.
8. Embed sustainability principle
Sustainability principles embedded into our procurement strategies, supplier selection criteria and supplier performance metrics to ensure collaboration with, and priority to, sustainability-conscious partners.
9. Ipsen North America champions supplier diversity
Ipsen North America champions supplier diversity by actively inviting small businesses to participate in applicable sourcing opportunities. Our Supplier Diversity program opens doors for collaboration, helping discover innovative partners and build a more inclusive supply chain.
